Firefighter Appreciation Day: A blog around firefighter appreciation day and the benefits of a career in firefighting.

Have you thanked a Firefighter lately? I'm sure you have but just in case you haven't....thank them! Today is designated as all day long to show your support and thank our men/women in blue firefighting uniform. To say thanks to these brave souls, my mama cooked great smores. You see, If I didn't tell you that my son was a firefighter and he had prepared this blog for you about him and his career, would you have known just by reading the whole post? No you wouldn't. He could've been a nurse or pharmacist. His number one priority(besides family) is to protect people from fire and smoke.

What is firefighter appreciation day?

firefighter appreciation day was created by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF). It is a day to acknowledge, recognize and express gratitude for our nation's firefighters for their dedication, service and sacrifice.

The NFFF established firefighter appreciation day in 2003, with the slogan "We Salute Those Who Serve." The goal was to raise public awareness of the sacrifices made by firefighters across the country. The NFFF also wanted to increase appreciation for firefighters among citizens and government leaders throughout the U.S., as well as educate young people about a potential career as a firefighter.

On July 27, 2003, President George W. Bush issued a proclamation supporting firefighter appreciation day and encouraged all Americans to take part in honoring firefighters who put themselves in harm's way every day on behalf of others. His proclamation read:

"During Fire Prevention Week, we pay tribute to our Nation's firefighters who dedicate their lives to protecting us from fire's devastation. Today we honor those who have lost their lives while fighting fires or training to prevent fires. We are grateful for their courageous service and are inspired by their selfless dedication."

To celebrate firefighter appreciation day, many communities hold parades that feature firefighting equipment, local emergency responders and emergency vehicles. Fire departments often host open houses

My son is a firefighter

Thanks for stopping by. This is my son's site and I enjoy working with him on it. He has a passion for blogging, especially when it comes to firefighting and Firefighter Appreciation Day. He is striving to become a firefighter and has a very personal connection to the career field. He wants to help others understand the benefits of becoming a firefighter and how much firefighters are appreciated. He also shares his love of firefighting through his blog posts and social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+.

Thanks again for stopping by!

Firefighters save lives

Firefighters are everyday heroes. They risk their lives to save the people they serve, and if you're a firefighter, your job is to keep everyone out of harm's way. Firefighters are civilian heroes, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve appreciation for all the hard work they do.

The best way to show support for the firefighters in your life is to give them a heartfelt thank you. If you know one personally, you can thank them for their selfless service in person. Or you can express your gratitude when it's National Firefighter Appreciation Day on January 29, 2019.

National Firefighter Appreciation Day is an opportunity for everyone to honor firefighters everywhere by thanking them for their service and dedication. But it's also a chance to educate others about the career options available to those who want to follow in the footsteps of their firefighting heroes.

If you know a firefighter, thank them for the work they do and encourage them to continue serving the community with pride. Help spread awareness of firefighter careers by sharing this blog post or related articles on social media. Thoughts on how we as a community can show we appreciate the work firefighters do

Proud to be a fireman!

Every day firefighters put their lives on the line for people they don't even know and never will. Most of us will never understand the pressures and stress that come with being a firefighter, but we can at least try to show our appreciation by acknowledging National Firefighters Day.

The best way to show your appreciation is to do something nice for a firefighter. It could be as simple as sending them a card or visiting their station on National Firefighters Day and thanking them personally. When you stop to consider the fact that firefighters are always putting our lives ahead of theirs, it's the least we can do to show our gratitude.

There are numerous ways you can pay tribute to your local fire department on this day. Here's some ideas:

- Visit your local fire department. Whether it's a small station or a giant complex, drop in off the radar and thank each member for his or her service. You might even bring them some donuts or coffee (just don't forget the napkins).

- If you're unable to visit your local fire department, call them up and tell them how much you appreciate what they do for us. Write down what you say so you don't forget anything important!
