There are many ways to cut a T-shirt into a halter top, but this tutorial is going to show you how I did it.

Step 1: Find the right pattern. The first thing you need to do is find a pattern that's right for your body type. You can do this by using your favorite T-shirt as a guide and measuring yourself against it. If you're not sure how to measure yourself, check out our guide on how to take accurate measurements.

Step 2: Measure your neckline length. Once you've found the right pattern, measure the length of the neckline on the back of the shirt (where you would normally wear it). Make sure that this measurement is long enough for your preference (i.e., if it's too short, then lengthen it).

Step 3: Cut off excess material from both ends of each side seam of the shirt's front panel (i.e., where most of the fabric will be). This should leave about an inch (2cm) between each side seam on each side of the shirt; adjust as needed until they are equal in length.

Step 4: Measure and mark the length of the neckline on each side of the shirt. This will ensure that you cut off exactly the right amount of material.

Step 5: Cut off excess material from both ends of each side seam (i.e., where most of the fabric will be). This should leave about an inch (2cm) between each side seam on each side of the shirt; adjust as needed until they are equal in length.

Step 6: Cut off excess material from both ends of each side seam (i.e., where most of the fabric will be). This should leave about an inch (2cm) between each side seam on each side of the shirt; adjust as needed until they are equal in length.
